Cities across the world have experienced an unprecedented phase of concentration in population, wealth, and culture. Their continued growth and development are predicated on and interdependent with their structural and societal forces. The collection of photographs draws upon the symbiotic relationship of cities and their physical and natural resources. The theme of the centrality of water and culture as a life force is emphasized by the presentation of original photographs of a selected set of world cities. This includes the renowned photograph of Lincoln Center licensed by Rolex signifying New York City as bastion of culture, inclusiveness, and freedom.
John Cardasis
Born in New York City and raised on Long Island, and currently resides in Merrick, N.Y. Studying architecture in Florida and New York are most likely the basis of his creative faculties. The initial draw to photography was out of a need to express his artistic calling. The natural route was to develop his eye in architectural photography. Combining architectural work with his background in the travel industry brought him to what now is a study in blending city and landscape photography. Now transitioning to video, learning a new format is again testing his boundaries to see if he is indeed still capable of evolving to include additional senses, that of motion and sound to his artistic pallet.
John's many clients include Honeywell International Inc. , Scandinavian Airlines Systems, Royal Air Maroc, Collette Vacations, Reilly & Associates Architects, Brian Shore Architect, Olympus America Inc., Business Travel News, The Music Paper, Sam Ash Music Inc., Iris Records, and Daphne Advertising. www.johncardasisphotography.com
